The book was GREAT!...An intriguing blend of Hawaiian folklore, legend, historical details, customs, traditions and superstitions all intertwined with our friends -- the Pono family! The Chinese reaching the Hawiian Islands before everyone else was just the right dash of spice and mystery to the pot!! This was a terrific read!

I really enjoyed doing the research for this book. I had heard of the book "1421: The Year China Discovered America", read it and then saw the PBS special based on the book. That got me thinking that if there was that much evidence that Chinese expeditions had reached North and South America, what kind of evidence might exist if they had reached Hawaii along the way.

While researching lava tubes I got an invitation to take a tour of the Kazumura lava tubes on the Big Island. The trouble is . . . tight dark places scare me something fierce.

I enjoy writing a story that has a basis in fact, and then taking it farther on my imagination.

Read all you can, it's the cheapest way to explore the world.
