The Guide to Hawaiian-Style Origami

248560001An island-style take on traditional origami, the Japanese art of paper folding.  Learn how to fashion exquisite origami creations, including a variety of flowers, fish, geckos, and dainty hula dancers with this exciting book filled with step-by step instructions from best-selling author and origami expert Jodi Fukumoto.

Jodi Fukumoto taught herself how to make simple origami from a book when she was a child. Over the years, she added to her repertoire occasionally, but she didn't consider herself a serious hobbyist until 1991, when she came up with an idea for a book of her own. That's when she started developing her own paper designs based on Hawaiian themes, rather than traditional Japanese themes.   The designing part is easy, she said. "What's hard is trying to explain how to do it.   Origami is about a minimal amount of steps and trying to come up with the simplest way to achieve the finished object.”

Jodi Fukumoto, who has been inventing new origami for years, has designed more than 20 original models with Hawaii themes, everything from an erupting volcano, a double-hull canoe to a mongoose and realistic flowers in actual size, such as anthuriums, orchids and torch ginger.
