He has taught English and creative writing on the high school and college levels, was named Maui Teacher of the Year, dubbed “Dean of Maui Playwrights” by the Maui News, and received the Cades Award for Literature.

One Response to “Under Maui Skies and Other Stories, by Wayne Moniz”

  1. Wayne Moniz Says:

After writing 14 plays about Hawaii's people, events and issues, i turned to the short story. My intent was to do seven short stories from each of the major genres: detective, ghost, western, love, adventure, war and science fiction. I then indulged in stories from earlier Hawaii; some totally contrived, others based on classic Maui events. Some stories like Aunty Becky's Tavern should ring nostalgic with old time Mauians. I hope you enjoy reading the stories as I lhad writing them.
