  1. Linda Ballou Says:

I’m Linda Ballou, adventure travel writer and author of Wai-nani, High Chiefess of Hawaii.
Through the eyes of high chiefess, Wai-nani, you experience the Hawaiian society as it existed when Captain James Cook arrived at Kealakekua Bay in 1779; ride the billowing seas with Eku, the wild dolphin she befriends; learn why she loved the savage, conflicted ruler, Makaha; walk with her as she defies ancient laws and harsh taboos of the Island people; share the love she received from all who knew her and learn how she rose to become the most powerful woman in old Hawai’i.
If you go to my site you will find glowing reviews from Islanders and mainlanders alike.

  2. Michael A. Herr Says:

I started writing a mystery/thriller series set on the Big Island along the Kohala Coast several years ago. So far I have published three books in that series ("The Bones of the Kuhina Nui" "The Old Queen's Murder" "The Old Queen's Treasure"). The fourth book, "The Old Queen's Guardians", should be out within a month or so. In addition to writing mystery/thrillers, I try to include cultural references in my books. So far I have dealt with iwi, burial practices, the Hawaiian sovereignty movement, and aumakua. The next book in the series will be set on Maui, "The Old Queen and the Maui Dragon", Booklines/Islander Group has been good to me and distributes my books throughout Hawaii. Check your local Borders or Barnes & Noble bookstore. Mahalo.

  3. Selma R. Davis Says:

I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania who fell in love with Hawaii, its traditions, and mythology, expecially Madam Pele. My trip to the Big Island inspired my first novel, "Hula Kapu" which can be purchased from xlibris.com. My appearance on Baywatch Hawaii inspired my second crime novel, "Surf Kapu" and a trip to the Big Island with an extensive lesson in coffee growing served as background to "Coffee Kapu." The Pro Bowl sets the background in "Pro Bowl Kapu." My novels are character driven that demonstrate a love and respect for Hawaii. Hope you enjoy them.

  4. Gunter Swoboda Says:

I have recently released my debut novel Mountains of the Sea. It is the fictional story of Walter Beaumont, an English aristocrat left behind by Captain Cook in first contact Hawaii. Essentially a watershed voyage of epic proportions the story takes you through the volatile moods of an historic Hawaiian ocean culture where our hero comes face to face with political intrigue, war, and the most enigmatic experience for an English aristocrat—that of riding the giant swells of Hawai’i.

I am also working on the sequel as we speak. Please check out my webpage and Borders and Barnes & Noble bookstores.
