As the author of Pearl Harbor Child and as we approach the 68th anniversary of the Dec. 7th attack, my thoughts go back to that time and what it was like to be child of the Harbor. My hope is to share with the keiki of Hawaii a child's view of airplanes flying so low over our house on Pearl City Peninsula we could see the pilot's goggles. Do you know that everyone had to carry their gas mask with them everywhere, even kids. School was closed from December until February. My school, Sacred Hearts Convent was turned into a military hospital. I hope you will enjoy reading and hearing more about Hawaii's history in wartime. Mahalo and aloha, Dorinda
