  1. Carol at UH Press Says:

    Aloha HR.com readers:
To avoid possible confusion, this voting process is totally different from the Samuel M. Kamakau Award for the Hawai`i Best Book of the Year, which is the top award of the annual Ka Palapala Po`okela book awards. The prestigious Kamakau Award recipient is selected from those titles receiving the most nominations from the Hawai`i Book Academy judges, with final voting by members of Hawai`i Book Publishers Association.

Do support your favorite book/author by voting for this HawaiiReaders.com award!

  2. Sara Velasquez Says:

New Friend For Naia is my vote

  3. Sandy Lundgren Says:

New Friend for Naia is a keeper! I got it for my newborn niece and look forward to working on her Hawaiian vocabulary from the start. Sweet story and lovely illustrations.

  4. Kecia Joy Says:

New Friend for Nia is a wonderful story with brilliant illustrations. I have been an educator for 20 years, and this book has so many great lessons!

  5. Page Turner Says:

Gee, hope you folks don't think you're voting by commenting here. I mean, no harm, but at the end of the post where it says "Vote here now", there's a link that takes you to surveymonkey. That's where you actually cast a vote that counts... It's hard to know that unless you wave your mouse over those words. (Maybe this blog's admin could change the post wording.)

  6. Makana Risser Chai Says:

Thanks PageTurner. 1000 folks have figured out how to vote so it's working out fine.
