If you haven't checked the site recently, it's quite surprising what is there. I think Kamehameha Publishing submitted almost all their titles and UH Press has had about a dozen, mostly language reference titles. When you go to ulukau.org, suggest clicking on the "Browse Ulukau" tab (after selecting English Text at the top right). The books I want are not digital yet - David Malo, Samuel Kamakau, etc. When they go digital, I'm going for it. All other books I now get at the library. I might even be willing to pay a small ($1) fee to rent e-books, rather than spring for the full price. However, I have not actually held a kindle or ipad in my hands and tried to read, so perhaps I will have a different reaction when that happens. I like the idea of being able to search and highlight digital books, to have my library on a small pad. "Awe struck: Makes me think about lovely print "auwe"...Took three minutes to bring "Slices of Life in Hawaii Volume 1" from amazon.com order to being read my Kindle...already on internet with Japanese explanation. Contrast: Took me three weeks to receive conventional printed copy in the mail... Just want to share this amazement: Writers, readers, stand up and cheer: a new world of publishing books is here.(...Of course, there is nothing like the feel of paper in one's hands.) No more ingenuous amazement expressed from me on this subject... First-time for me publishing like this has been done: now I feel naif and stunned. Maybe this will encourage others out there."
