His noble deeds and worthy achievements touched the lives of numerous people in his time, and that legacy continues on today in varoius organizations and establishments. In Heart of a Hero, author Peter Galuteria has diligently researched, documents, and presented Bishop's story.

Peter Galuteria taught for nearly thirty years at Kamehameha Schools. It has long been his desire to write a book about Chsrles Reed Bishop, founder of Kamehameha's Preparatory Department. As a teacher and librarian, he was very cognizant of the need for a biography of Mr. Bishop, especially for students in grades five through eight. His goal has been achieved in heart of a Hero.
