writer-on-beachAt 10:30 a.m., Kapolei Public Library will be hosting three local writers for a panel discussion and Q&A on opening sentences and paragraphs. An important topic for readers and writers.  Are those openings "hooks" (a word that can bring up unpleasant images), or are they more subtle invitations to the reader to join the writer on a narrative journey?  Local fiction writers Leslee Ellenson, Lynde Lakes, and Michael Little will be reading and talking about the openings from their novels and short stories, as well as some famous opening sentences from Huckleberry Finn, The Catcher in the Rye, Moby Dick, and other novels. Presented by the Aloha Chapter, Romance Writers of America.
